PERBEDAAN PERKEMBANGAN KOGNITIF ANAK USIA PRASEKOLAH (3-6 TAHUN) PADA TIPE NUCLEAR FAMILY DAN EXTENDED FAMILY
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Cognitive development is the ability of children to use thoughts related to knowledge and in the form of applications to the environment. Cognitive development is influenced by the family environment, consisting of the nuclear family (father, mother, child) and extended family (nuclear family plus other family members who are still related to blood (grandparents, uncles-aunts). differences in cognitive development of preschool children (3-6 years) in the type of nuclear family and extended family This study uses a quantitative approach to the type of survey research method techniques. While the design of this study uses non experimental experimental with a population of 45 children and mothers. The research sample consisted of 32 children and mothers divided into nuclear family types and extended families. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The research tool uses observation. Data analysis using t test is Independent T-test. The results of this study found that most of the children in the nuclear family type included the appropriate categories, namely as many as 12 (75%) and most of the cognitive development of the extended family type included in the inappropriate category as many as 9 people (56%). Independent data analysis results t-test tcount of 3.250 with a level of Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.003 so that the value of t table = 2.042 at the significance level (α = 0.05) so tcount ≥ ttable = 3.250 ≥ 2.042 then there are differences between developments cognitive in the type of nuclear family and extended family. For further researchers, researchers recommend to examine the factors that influence cognitive development of preschoolers using interviews and observation.
